In the Bordeaux region, Christian Portzampac and Jean Nouvel renowned architects (both owners of the Pritzker Prize, Nobel of Architects) are participating in the global tourism winemaking.
The first grand cru classé of Saint-Emilion, Chateau Cheval Blanc has asked Christian Portzampac to participate in the development of the field. For that Christian de Portzampac to install the sculptures in the shape of shells, a roof and walls of plants on buildings of the nineteenth century.
At the Chateau La Dominique, Grand Cru Jean Nouvel makes installing a rooftop photovoltaic panels and having a capacity for 400 people. The owner of the Chateau Fayat Clement’s idea of placing his subject at the forefront of the use of green energy.
The intent and transform these areas into a veritable work of art.
This is not a revolution, Lafite-Rothschild had already appealed to Ricardo Bofill in 1987 to renovate its cellars. In 2008 Chateau Cos d’Estournel, Grand Cru Classe Medoc had also appealed to a renowned architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte and a decorator Jacques Garcia. Castle Faugères, Saint-Emilion, has called him to Mario Botta, famous for his use of light and space for the Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco and Kyobo Tower in Seoul.
