A very interesting article by Jean-Michel Bélot published on point.fr dated 28/12/2009 entitled “China begins to wine, but especially in Chinese wine, raises some questions.
Indeed, while production of wine in France remained stable, but sales drop it due to reasons explained in the previous section (crisis, exports to USA in decline, competition from new foreign vineyards) Lachine seems to be a new target for our French wine merchants. But as the article stresses the point to China as many products will try to produce it out of his own thought. Luckily there will be some years before they get to be self sufficient in that direction, but mostly they come to get our expertise. More consumers in this country are fond of French brands as can be seen with many luxury brands such as Louis Vuitton. But for them the wine is akin to luxury, so they remain fond of French names and labels, which portends good years for the export of our vintages on their land!
